Day 1 Kunming
We will meet you at the airport in Kunming, and transfer to the hotel downtown.The evening is left open for you to either rest or take a stroll around the Green Lake, a charming area surrounded by little teahouses and cafes as well as small shops selling souvenirs and paintings.
Day 2 Jinghong to Ganlanba
Take morning flight (45 min) to Jinghong,the capital of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Region. Meet and greet at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Then drive to Ganlanba along the Mekong. After lunch in the market, we will have the whole afternoon to walk around and explore the nearby villages. Drive back to Jinghong in the late afternoon. In the evening we will have a welcoming dinner.
Day 3 Damenglong to Yakou village
Today we drive south towards Damenglong. En route, we will make several stops and short visits to the local stupas, temples and local market. We’ll spend the night in Yakou. The Akeh is a Tibeto-Burmese tribe and is known for their silver smithing skills resulting in impressive swords and daggers. They wear tight fitting black jackets and puttees and the women wear their hair piled high on their heads. They consider black teeth to be the height of beauty!
Day 4 Yakou village to Manpo Zhongzai village
About 6 hours trekking before arrival at the Bulang village of Manpo Zhong Zai. Overnight in a villager’s home in Manpo Zhong Zai, a tiny village that has remained devoid of the trappings of the modern world. The Bulang are of Mon-Khmer origin and are related to the Wa. They generally live in the mountains where they grow cotton and tea. They are distinctive by their white head cloths, sarongs and jackets.
Day 5 Manpo Zhongzai village to Guanming village
Leaving Manpo Zhong Zai village after breakfast, we set out for the 15 km (10 miles) walk to the Aini village of Guanming. We will stop at this Bulang village for lunch. After lunch, trek about 3 hours to a Hani village of Guanming. We will spend the night in Guanming village. The Hani, the third largest minority in Yunnan province, live in wooden houses with flat roofs, which they use for drying grains. The women are known for their embroidery and their large silver earrings and bracelets.
Day 6 Guanming village to Jinghong via Damenglong
Today we will trek 2 hours to Damenglong and meet our driver there. Drive to a Dai village, after which we return to Jinghong late afternoon. The Dai are plain-dwellers. Their villages consist of bamboo houses on stilts, with the entire village being enclosed by a hedge for seclusion. The women wear heavy silver waistbands to which keys are attached (if they are married.). Tonight stay in a 4 star hotel for a good rest, well-deserved comfort.
Day 7 Jinghong to Kunming
Today we will take a morning flight back to Kunming. The ends of trip.
