The Qingyang Palace, a famed Taoist temple in China, is in the beautiful and cultural relic laden city Chengdu. It is in the west of the city on the bank of the Jinjiang River.

The temple has been restored repeatedly in the Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1911), but retaining almost all its original scale and style. The main buildings in Qingyang Palace are Lingzu Hall, Qiankun (the universe) Hall, Eight Diagrams Pavilion, Sanqing Hall and Doulao Hall, etc. Among them, the Eight Diagrams Pavilion, presenting the feature of Taoism, is one of the main parts of the palace. The base of this majestic structure, with exquisite carvings and enchasing is square and the body is round, supported by eight pillars with eight dragons engraved on each. The spacious main hall, Sanqing Hall worshipped three statues, in front of which is standing a pair of special bronze goats. One of the goats has a single horn with unique shape – the characteristics combination of 12 animals of China.
If you are interested in Chinese Taoism, Qingyang Palace in Chengdu City is highly recommended; additionally, you may find many interesting legends there. On the 15th day after the Chinese New Year is the lively Lantern Festival, thick with atmosphere and Chinese folk art in Cultural Park, neighboring Qingyang Palace.
