Is there nice apartments in Lanzhou that a person could rent for a longer stays (2 or 3 months)? That would be cheaper then staying in a hotel that long, and if so what are there prices? I am staying there my study chinese.

You can go Lanzhou by long distance bus, there is one nightly sleeper to Lanzhou from Xian. it does not take too much time to go Lanzhou.
