Shanghai New Asia Hotel was constructed in 1943. It is a 9-storey mansion and was the
first hotel in Shanghai that was funded, designed, built, and managed by Chinese. The
hotel was renovated in 2003, retaining its original look, but improving its facilities and
changing its interior decoration.
Three main restaurants in the hotel serve a mix of cuisine. The White Clouds Hall
provides Cantonese food, the Sea Clouds Hall serves Shanghai styles, and the French
Restaurant serves “western” food.
The hotel has a post office, a ticket reservation office, a billiards room, a sauna, a
dancing hall, karaoke, and a gymnasium. The business center is equipped with fax,
printer, photocopying, and access to various meeting rooms.
The rooms all contain individually controlled air-conditioning, satellite TV, IDD
telephones, and a private shower. Some of the rooms provide beautiful views of
Shanghai, such as the Oriental Pearl Tower and the Jinmao Building.
