The “New” Thatched Cottage of Du Fu is actually an exhibition hall. It displays a large Chinese style painting of the whole view of the cottage and a complete description of the poet’s life. A carved statue of Du Fu stands at the middle of Sishi Tang (The Poetry History Hall), rubbings picturing the poet’s image and couplets that tribute to him are hung on the pilasters in the hall. The rooms on the both sides of the hall exhibit the modern paintings and calligraphies, which are made based on some of Du Fu’s poems. Inside the Gongbusi Ancestral Temple is a painted sculpture of Du Fu, statues from Ming and Qing Dynasties and a large stone stele. Some stone images of ancient poets who had been officials in Sichuan Province displayed here as well.
