24 km north of the Ancient City of Dali，under Peak Yunnong of the Cangshan Mountain，is Butterfly Spring. Here water issues from the sand and stones and gathers into a blue and clear pond of over 20km².The spring is densely shaded by two old bending silk trees locally known as butterfly trees. Every spring and summer when the flowers are in blossom，the silk trees emit a light fragrance attracting tens of thousands of butterflies. On the 1 4th of the fourth month of the lunar year，thousands and thousands of butterflies gather at the spring chasing each other，hanging on the trees in lines，and forming a wonderful view.
