Tour Itinerary:
Our dedicated local guide will be waiting to collect you at your hotel in the morning to take you on a full tour of the Wuxi area. This will include Xi Hui Park, where numerous gardens and architectural wonders can be found, and Taihu Lake. This will be followed by a cruise on Tai Lake where you can witness a pearl farm. After the tour you will be returned to Shanghai.
Xi Hui Park
Covering an area of 45 square kilometres, the Xihui Park is set on the western edge of Wuxi between Xi Shan and Hui Shan. The park is most famous for its artificial lake surrounded by paved paths and the seven-story Dragon Light Pagoda (Longguang ta) on the top of Xi
Shan. The octagonal pagoda was first built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644AD) but burned down during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911AD). The current one is a brick and wood replica. However, it still offers a bird’s eye view over the city and Taihu Lake.
Taihu Lake
Taihu Lake is one of China’s four major freshwater lakes, covering 2,420 square kilometers. The best place to view is from the Xihui Park in the west of Wuxi. If you climb the seven-story Dragon Light Pagoda on the top of Huishan hill, you will be able to take in a panoramic view of Wuxi and Taihu Lake. More than 40 islets dot the lake and houses, geese and duck farms, fish ponds and fruit orchards. The spectacular and tiered landscape makes one feel as if he were before a picturesque sea. Some popular sites along the lake are Turtle Head Isle and Three Hills Isles. The unique and marvelous scenery makes these places very famous. Nowadays many more attractions have been added by a number of elaborately designed architectures with classic Chinese traditional styles. With so many wonders and marvels, the place has become a fairyland.
