The world’s biggest golf club, the Mission Hills Golfathon, announced that it will add two more courses to the 10 it currently has. It stretches between Shenzhen and Dongguan, thus giving its members an opportunity to choose between 216 holes. The Golfathon is an event through which members are given the opportunity to test their tenacity over all the ten courses.
The occasion of making it on all the courses was realized when 120 ‘iron men’ – in fact, men, women and children – did it within the period of a week in summer, while about 1500 took part over longer stretches. According to Executive Director, Tenniel Chu, the Golfathon has generated a strong local fan following and Mission Hills hopes to eventually make it to an international event. The notion was echoed by the Vice President for Golf Operations, Christopher Ch’ng, who added his wish to line up a few more events at Mission Hills so as to give it an international dimension.
The Golfathon package of playing at all the 180 holes in 5 days for HK$ 8065 includes ten rounds of green fees on all the courses, caddie fees, golf carts and lockers, in addition to a five nights’ accommodation at the five star resort’s luxury hotel with breakfast included.
