Tour Itinerary: (Lunch)
In the morning you will be picked up at your hotel and visit the No.1 Silk Factory. Here you will learn the entire process of making silk. Afterwards you will take a rickshaw ride around town. After lunch you will then take a boat ride on the Grand Canal that goes around the outer city. While taking the cruise you will make a stop at Pan Gate, one of eight gates in Suzhou built by Wu Zixu. Afterwards you will be driven back to your hotel for the remainder of the evening.
The Grand Canal
The Grand Canal, which was listed as one of the most important national protected heritage sites last year, has attracted the attention of more and more people.The Grand Canal, also known as the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, is the longest artificial river in the world. Some people regard it and the Great Wall as one of the two greatest ancient engineering projects.
Pan Gate
Panmen Gate stands at the southwestern corner of the ancient city of Suzhou and can be accessed by taking Bus No. 7. With a history of 2,500 years, this city gate is the most completely preserved part of the ruins of the ancient city of Suzhou. Stepping onto the top of the gate, you can see the Wumen Gate Bridge and the Auspicious Light Pagoda. Together, they are popularly known as the Three Scenes at Panmen Gate.
