The Xijiao Guest House (Xijiao binguan), one of the few quality hotels near
the Hongqiao Airport, is located in the western section of town. It is
10km from the heart of town and 15km from the railway station. This is
a nice place to stay, despite its somewhat distant location, and is of
acclaim not only for its facilities, but as the hotel that housed both
a British Monarch and a Japanese Emperor.
The hotel, a four
star, has a total of merely 151 rooms, that range from standard room to
deluxe suite. All of the rooms are equipped with colour televisions and
air-conditioning. Room service is available on demand.
The hotel
has many facilities in its 80 hectare site. Recreational services
include 2 indoor/4 outdoor tennis courts, a squash room, a gym, a
bowling alley, a lake that can be both fished and boated upon, a bar
and more. More functional services include 7 meeting rooms, a ticket
booking office, a small shopping arcade and a business center. The
business center provides standard services including typing, fax and
photocopying.
There are also three restaurants here, that between them serve both Chinese and western cuisine.
