Yichang Sanxia  Airport is an important project of  Three Gorges complementary Projects .

Yichang Sanxia Airport is  located in Yichang Huting  area,  just 26KM away from the center of Yichang  and  55KM away  from the Three Gorges Dam , it connectes with Yihuang Highway ( Yichang – Huangshan Highway ) from North , connects with Yangtze golden waterway from south, east to Jiaozhi Railway (　It starts from Henan Jiaozuo pass through Luoyang , Nanyang ,Xiangfan reaches to Zhicheng of Hubai Province  the total lenth of it is 772 km . This railway pass through two province ,  through the hills west of Henan Province, Nanyang Basin, Hubei Jingshan, Jianghan Basen ,along the way there are a  lot of minings and industrial & historical cities, such as in Jiaozuo, Luoyang, Nanyang, Xiangfan . It plays very important role  on the mine and oil transportation of  Shanxi and Henan province . It has very important meaning on the construction of the Yangtze River Water Control Project Gezhouba and the promotion of Henan, Hubei provinces economic and cultural exchanges.)

Yichang Three Gorges Airport was opened to public in  December 28, 1996  .  Yichang Three Gorges Airport was palaned to be  4E standard flight area in future , at present it has 4D standrad flight area with total  area of 3966.4 acres .

Since the Airport was opened to public in 1996  , it has opened 24 domestic air routes and four  temporary air route to  abroad . Therae are flights to and from  Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Haikou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Kunming, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Enshi, Changsha, Zhangjiajie, Wuhan, Nanjing, Xi’an, Hangzhou, Qingdao, Jinan, Zhengzhou, Wenzhou, Nanning, Xiamen, Shantou, Huangshan international lines to Hong Kong, Japan, Toyama, Nagoya, Niigata and other cities.

Yichang Airport Bus starts from Airport at the time of  the first flight arrives to Yichang Sanxia Airport till  the end of the last flights. Traffic routes for the Yichang Three Gorges Airport – Qingjiang Yichang City Hotel, the distance  is about 40 kilometers  and it takes about 50 minutes by vehicle , ticket price  20 yuan. It stops on the near of the most   major station along the way till the the terminal.
